Kids' ISO 14000 Programme empowers children, so that they increase
(1) their environmental awareness, (2) capability to solve problems by the scientific methodology to achieve the target which they set up, (3) to collaborate each other through networking to solve problems which they will face in near future.

Kids'ISO14000 Programme has developed by ArTech -NGO- in 2000. The Programme has been implemented in Japan and spreaded through the United Nations University (UNU), UNEP, ISO, and UNESCO as UN-DESD to many other countries in the world. By 2009, more than 210,000 children has participated in the world.

Kids'ISO14000 Programme is characterized by its effectiveness,

1. Educational aspect: more than 80 % of children who participated increased their environmental awareness.

2. Furthermore, those children affect their family members in environmetal management.

3. As a results of effectiveness in education, children have been reducing CO2 emission from house holdl. An estimation indicates more than 70,000 tons of CO2 emission was reduced. Setting up of the credit for those reduced emitted carbon is under way.

4. Local and International Networks have been formed, and International TV Conferences have organized amoung children who participated Kids'ISO14000 Programme.

5. Many other good results are coming out from participation of Kids'ISO14000 Programme, including increased tie among family members through the work on environmental management of house hold.

Meeting with the Minister of Education

Meeting with Dr. Moudhi Al-Haouziz Al-Hamoud, the Minister of Education and Higher Education of the state of Kuwait and ArTech Director General, Prof. Dr. Takaya Kawabe, Mr. Wail Al-Sagal, Chairman of Kuwait-Japan Businessman's Committee and Japan Ambassador Mr. Masatoshi Muto was held in June 14, 2009. The proposal of the 2nd stage of cooperation on implementation of Kiids'ISO14000 Programme in Kuwait, including implementation of the programme in all 6 graders of students and higher level of the programme and building of Kuwait Center of Environmental Education and Research, was discussed.

Presentation of Kids'ISO14000 Programme in Kuwait at UNESCO World Conference at Bonn, Germany (March 31-April 2, 2009) as one of UN-DESD.

Dr. Maryam Al-WaTeed received interview of German Media at Bonn, Germany in front of the Booth "Kids'ISO 14000 Programme in Kuwait".

 
Presentation of Kids'ISO14000 Programme in Kuwait and Japan at Dialogue between Japan and Islamic Civilization at Kuwait on March 11-12, 2009. Exchange of the posters on protection of the environment painted by children in Japan and Kuwait was held.


 8th Awarding Ceremony of International Certificate of Kids'ISO14000 Programme on January 17, 2009 at the United Nations University in Tokyo Japan.

Implementation to New York City
Implementation to the public schools in New York City has started by collaboration of ArTech and CEi-PEA with supports of Japan Foundation, Casio Inc. and Toyota USA Foundation.. NY Seminar and Training Courses for Introduction and evaluation were held. More than 600 children in 3 public schools participated in October 2007.

Kuwaiti Eco-Kids Instructors were born
Intense Training Course of Eco-Kids Instructors for Kids' ISO 14000 Programme to implement in Intermediate Schools in Kuwait under Ministry of Education have been held in Tokyo, Japan, and 6 school teachers and a representative of the working group attended the course for 2 week. All the trainees received Certificates of Level 1 Eco-Kids Instructor.
Arabic Version of Workbook and Implementation to Kuwait The workbook in Arabic was editated and published for implementation to Kuwait. Children in Kuwait is working with this workbook in schools and in home of participate Kids' ISO 14000 Programme
.
Awarding Ceremony of Evaluation Sheets at New York JC School was held on April 18, 2007 in USA, and 14 children received them with their workbooks. Their accompliment was tremendous and they showed their capability of environmental management and reduction of CO2 emission for their household up to 80 kg for a week, which would lead to 2 tons in a year.


Presentation on Kids' ISO 14000 Programme was performed at the Consumer Electronics Show (Jan. 8 -11) at the Pavilion of Casio Inc. in the Convention Hall of Las Vegas, USA.
